Theatre Hire

One of the most traditional performance areas in Europe is the theatre. These are large structures built specifically to house certain types of production, but they all tend to provide the same basic premise, which is a performance area, a preparation area for cast and crew and a defined seating area for the audience.

The theatre building itself can vary wildly in style and budget. They can range from massive cathedral type structures with multiple mezzanine floors and ornate, baroque architecture turning the building itself in to a work of performance, to massive open air amphitheatres that have been used for public performances since Roman times.

When looking for a venue to host your performance you will be spoilt for choice should you choose to go down the theatre route. Nearly every town in the UK has its own theatre, while the larger cities may have dozens. Larger venues will only want to book you if you can guarantee a certain amount of money to the manager, and performing to crowds that barely fill the mezzanine floor of a big hall can suck the atmosphere and chemistry right out of a performance.

However, having people turned away every night because you don’t have enough seats for them is also not what you want. Picking the right theatre venue for a touring show can be a difficult balancing act, but in the end selections are generally made out of necessity from where is available on the nights you will be in that region.
